The Warwick Arms Public House

Public house. c1820 with later additions and alterations.
Reddish-brown brick with Welsh slate roof and painted stucco
front facade.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, 3 first-floor windows. Central entrance
plan. First floor: 6/6 sashes; second floor: 3/3 sashes, all
with sills and in plain reveals. Ground floor: 2 steps to
central entrance, double part-glazed doors with overlight
within surround of pilasters with incised decoration,
continuous frieze and hood. To either side are tripartite
windows with pilasters to ends in plain reveals and with
sills, C20 glazing. Wide eaves. Tall left stack and centre and
rear stacks with cornices.
To right return: first floor has 3 openings, outer 6/6 sashes
and central blocked opening. Second floor: to right a 3/3
sash, otherwise blocked openings. All in plain reveals with
sills and flat channelled arches with raised keystones. Ground
floor: central entrance a 6-panelled door in Tuscan pilastered
surround with frieze and hood which continues to left;
otherwise C20 windows, that to right has plain reveals with
sill and flat channelled arch with raised keystone.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Regent Street, known originally as Cross
Street, was laid out c1808-1814.
Occupies a significant corner site.
