Terraced houses. c1840. Stucco, roofs of slate to Nos 77A &
78, the rest obscured by parapets.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys over basement, No.79 with additional attic
storey, 3-window range. The front of each house is a
full-height, full-width segmental bay. All windows
flat-arched. Steps up to flat-arched entrance with overlight;
ground floor decorated with banded rustication. First-floor
windows have architraves and individual cast-iron balconettes
with palm-leaf and Greek fret ornament; storey band between
first and second floors; architraves to second floor windows;
dentil cornice, the details missing on No.77A, balustraded
parapet, the balustrade missing on Nos 77A & 78. Stacks to
party walls. Details of individual houses are: panelled doors
of original design to Nos 78 & 79; sashes of original design
to No.76 (6 x 6 to ground floor, 9 x 9 to first floor, 6 x 3
to second floor), and No.79 (9 x 9 to first floor, 6 x 3 to
second floor); blind boxes to the first floor of No.78 and to
all floors of No.79.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Fragments of cast-iron railings with crescent-shaped finials
remain to Nos 77 & 79.
