Terraced houses. c1845, Stucco, roofs obscured by parapet on
Nos 1-4, otherwise of slate unless specified.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys over basement, Nos 5-22 with dormers in
mansard roof, No.1 Victoria Road with dormer in hipped roof;
2-window range, No.1 Victoria Road one-window range. Ground
floor decorated with banded rustication. Flat-arched entrance
with pilasters and entablature; overlight. Full-height
segmental bay with tripartite windows; window over entrance
blank; entablature, cornice and blocking course; stacks to
party walls.
Exceptions and variations: on No.1 the bay windows have been
re-glazed, window opened over entrance, dormer; Nos 3-4 have
canted bays and No.3 has a window opened over entrance; No.5
has a canted bay and window-guard to the ground floor; No.7
has sashes of original design to the ground and first floors,
cornice interrupted by bay, and roof of tiles; No.8 has a
canted bay and a window opened over entrance; No.10 has a
window opened over entrance, tripartite windows with sashes of
original design to first floor only, and roof of tiles; No.11
has a window opened over entrance and sashes of original
design to bay; No.13 has sashes of original design to bay;
No.14 has sashes of original design to first floor of bay;
No.15 has canted bay; No.16 has sashes of original design to
middle windows only in bay; No.18 has sashes of original
design; No.19 has cast-iron window-guard to ground floor; Nos
20-2 have sashes of original design to bay and cast-iron
window-guards to ground floor. No.1 Victoria Road has C20
bracketed canopy over entrance in Montpelier Street, the whole
entrance perhaps of this date, and a return in Victoria Road
with flat-arched entrance with architrave.
