GV II
Vicarage, now 2 houses. 1836. By George and Mary Elizabeth
Lucy, for his brother Revd John Lucy. Brick laid to Flemish
bond with limestone dressings; fish-scale tile roof with brick
ridge stacks. Tudor-Revival style. L-plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 3-window range. Projecting centre has
coped shaped gable with finials to kneelers and tall central
finial. Entrance to left of centre has brick and stone porch
with moulded 4-centred arch, spandrels and label mould with
carved stops; stepped gable with panel with Lucy crest;
pointed light to return. Double-chamfered mullioned windows
with label moulds and small-paned glazing.
Centre has 2-storey projecting window with string courses and
hipped ashlar roof with beast to each end; quatrefoil panels
between 4-light windows with 4-centred heads to lights; Lucy
Arms in panel above. Ground floor right has 3-light mullioned
and transomed window; first floor has 3-light windows flanking
centre. Gabled roofs. 2 cross-axial stacks, one with renewed
diagonal shafts, one with octagonal shafts.
Right return has barge-boards with Tudor flower and finial;
large 4-light transomed window and 2-light windows to first
floor and small gable light. Rear wing to right has gablets
and plainer windows; 2 cross-axial stacks with octagonal
shafts. Left return has plain barge-boards; 2 cross-mullioned
windows with 2-light windows above and gable light with
lattice glazing.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
