House, part the former post office. C17 with 1911 addition.
Coursed dressed lias limestone with ashlar dressings, some
brick to return; gabled old tile roofs with brick end stacks
and 2 stacks to rear of ridge. 3-unit plan plus former post
office.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic; 3- plus 2-window range. Centre
slants inward to forward break at left end. Entrance to left
of centre has doorcase with angle panels and cornice to
6-fielded-panel door.
Ground floor has 2 recessed-chamfered windows with labels and
inserted 3-light leaded casements replacing mullions; similar
3-light mullioned windows to first floor; left end has window
to each floor with 3/6 sash in flush wood frame; attic has 3
gabled dormers with 2-light leaded casements; some windows
have wrought-iron casement fasteners. Right end has quoins and
cornices to both floors.
Tudor-headed entrance to right has continuous moulding and
panel above with partly effaced letters: KINETON/ POST OFFICE;
paired 2-fielded-panel doors. 2 similar Tudor-headed windows
with raking sills and fixed glazing to left; first floor has
pair of 2-light recessed-chamfered mullioned windows with
raking sills and continuous label mould.
Brick return with half-hipped gable and single-storey wing
with 2-light single-chamfered mullioned window with label
mould; rebuilt return has small C20 window and half-hipped
gable.
