Laundry building, now house. c1870. Possibly by Sir George
Gilbert Scott. For Sir John Mordaunt. Brick with some
timber-frame with brick infill; gabled tile roofs with stack
to roof slope with diagonal shafts and caps, and rear stack.
PLAN: 2-unit plan plus cross-wing to right and single-storey
wing to left end.
EXTERIOR: dentilled brick cornice over ground floor and square
framing to first floor; wing has brick panels over ground
floor and timber-framed gable; simple barge-boards. Entrance
to left of wing has gabled 2-storey timber-framed porch with
brackets to cornice; battened door with strap hinges. Windows
have leaded casements; ground floor has 5-light transomed
casement to left of entrance, and bay window with hipped roof
over 1:4:1-light transomed casement to wing; first floor has
2-light casement to porch, gabled half-dormer with
cross-casement with wide transom to left of porch and 3-light
casement to wing. Stack to left slope of roof of wing.
Single-storey wing to left end has large gabled half-dormer
with 4-light transomed casement and 2-light casement to right
end. Right return has 2 segmental-headed windows and 3 raking
half-dormers.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
One of a group of estate cottages and other buildings.
