Post Office. 1909. Red brick with ashlar dressings and slate roofs with polished flush marble plinth. Baroque Revival style. 3 storey with ashlar ground floor and brick upper floors with ashlar dressings.
Street front has 11 windows with projecting 5 window centre, 2 window side wings and single window pavilions at either end. Central slightly projecting bay has moulded ashlar doorway with prominent keystones and Ionic columns supporting a large segmental pediment with central plaque inscribed POST OFFICE 1909. Above giant Ionic pilasters supporting steep pediment with between a tall glazing bar sash with prominent keystone and segmental pediment and a smaller glazing bar sash above in plainer moulded surround. Either side 2 glazing bar sashes in complex moulded surrounds, first floor has 2 glazing bar sashes with keystones and pediments, second floor windows smaller with glazing bar sashes and keystones between the windows giant banded pilasters all topped with deep dentilated cornice and brick parapet. Pavilions have round headed ashlar arches with prominent keystones on the ground floor similar sashes above with triangular pediments and topped with circular windows all set in shallow curve with banded quoins and scrolled tops.
