GV II

Smithy. Late C17 with later alterations and restorations.
Small timber-framing with reddish brick infill in stretcher
bond, on limestone plinth with weatherboarding to left end and
plain-tile roof.
EXTERIOR: single storey, 2-unit plan. Horse-shoe shaped timber
entrance to left unit. Right unit has plank door within giving
access to smithy. 2 fixed-light windows with plank shutters.
Forge ash tray to right gable. Further timbering to left
gable. Gabled roof, hipped to left. Right end stack.
INTERIOR: has cobbled floor to right; forge to right end has
brick forge.
Forms a group with The Forge House (qv).
