Farmhouse. Probably C17 with later additions and alterations.
Timber-framed with some plaster infill, painted brick front
facade and plain-tile roof. Probably 3-unit plan with
cross-wing and with a further gabled break-forward to right,
and stable to left.
EXTERIOR: single-storey, 2-unit range to left with attic in
part and one-and-a-half gabled storeys, 2-unit range to right.
Central entrance with a plank door; further similar off-centre
left entrance; stable entrance to far left has plank split
doors under elliptical arch. Ground floor, from left, has 2
2-light then 2 3-light casement windows, all under elliptical
arches and with sills. Upper stage: 2-light casement window in
attic dormer, skylight; then a 3-light casement to each gable
under elliptical arches and with sills.
Left range has modillion eaves band. Gabled roofs. Right
external stack and cluster of 3 central internal stacks. Right
gable end and rear of right wing have exposed square panels of
timber-framing.
INTERIOR: believed to have exposed timber-framing to internal
walls, chamfered beams and exposed rafters to ceilings,
sitting room has inglenook fireplace with bressumer beam and
bacon cupboard to one side. Dining room has blocked inglenook
fireplace with bressumer beam.
First floor: main bedroom believed to have cruck wall timbers
and ceiling beams, further exposed timber-framing to first
floor.
