House. Probably C16 origins with later additions and
alterations of C18, C19 and C20. Small timber-framing with
painted brick infill to recessed centre bay, otherwise
roughcast to left (east) and painted brick to right (west),
and plain-tile roof with reddish-brown brick stacks.
Double-pile plan with irregular additions:
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys to left, single storey plus attic to right
(west); 4-window range, with single-storey additions to left
and right. Elevation to road: entrance off-centre to right has
plank door and moulded wood frame and is contained in C20
brick porch. To left are two 3-light C20 metal casements; to
right a 3-light casement. First floor to left has 2-light
wooden casements with lead cames. Central timber-framed bay
has wide renewed window with glazing bars. Gabled bay to right
(west) has a 2-light casement window with glazing bars. Gabled
roofs.
Garden facade: 2 storeys, 5 first-floor windows. First-floor
band. Metal multi-pane casements throughout. Central entrance
with a part-glazed door with divided overlight. Dentil eaves
band. Some close-set exposed timbers to left (east) end. VCH
notes house of rectangular plan with staircase wing on north
side, much altered. South front was jettied but is rebuilt
with C18 brickwork. To east end ground floor has close-set
studding exposed and a diagonal bracket to former overhang.
Square framing in gabled head at west end and in staircase
wing.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
