Malthouse or barn, now house. C16/C17 origin with later
alterations and restoration, including additional range of C19
stables, now part of house, to south.
MATERIALS: regular coursed lias limestone ground floor on
limestone plinth (slightly repaired in brick). Close-studded
timber-framing above, with arched bracing to garden facade,
with painted plaster infill. Brick former stables. Plain-tile
roof and brick stacks.
PLAN: long rectangular plan in 2 units, that to north is
slightly taller to rear where it also breaks forward.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 4-window range. Entrance, now blocked,
has chamfered Tudor arch; entrance now to garden facade. 1-
and 3-light mullioned windows in double-chamfered surrounds.
First-floor band. First floor has 4 casements with latticed
lights. Gabled roofs.
Rear (garden) facade: range to south of 2 storeys, 5
first-floor windows, that to north of 2 higher storeys, 3
first-floor windows. Off-centre left entrance: plank door with
side-light under elliptical arch. Further entrance to north
range, with a plank door. Otherwise 2-, 3- and 5-light
casement windows, off-centre canted bay window and further
canted bay to north range. First floor has 2-light windows.
Further close-studded timber-framing to north gable end.
Massive ridge stack to each range, that to south has cluster
of 6 diamond flues.
INTERIOR: reputed to have exposed beams.
