Farmhouse. C17 with later additions and alterations including
rebuilding late C17/early C18; addition to rear-left late
C18/early C19 and front cross-wing early C20, with renovations
and additions 1970s.
Original range to rear has blue lias stone plinth in parts,
including stack; some exposed small square panels of
timber-framing with reddish-pink brick nogging at rear (east);
otherwise reddish-pink brick; plain-tile roofs.
U-shaped on plan with original range from north-south.
EXTERIOR: 2-bay timber-framed original range with massive
lateral stack and original end stack; rear-left (east) outshut
(probably dairy with cheese room over) has lateral stack, and
cross-range (east-west) to front. Gabled roofs.
Front C20 facade of 2 storeys, 2 bays: central entrance
through a plank door in part-glazed porch between canted bay
windows with multi-pane casements, all with hipped roofs.
First floor has 3-light casement windows; mock close-studding
to first floor.
Original range: one-and-a-half storeys, 4-window range. C20
end entrance under C20 porch, wood casements to ground and
upper floors, gabled half-dormer to rear.
INTERIOR: original part has inglenook fireplace relating to
massive stack. Extensive exposed timber-framing includes some
close-studding, small panels of square framing with braces to
upper floor. Partly-exposed collar-and-tie-beam truss with
angle struts, exposed purlins.
