north-east of Blackford Mill
GV II
Range of farm buildings. Late C18 stable and cattle sheds and
mid C19 barn. Red brick with plain-tile and Welsh slate roofs.
Basically U-plan; single-storey of various heights, part with
loft; L-plan stable on left is attached to cattle shed which
is attached to barn and further cattle sheds.
EXTERIOR: stable: single storey with loft. 3 stable doors and
window facing, with loft door over. Stable door, window and
loft door on right end in return. Chamfered beams to first
floor. Roof to front partly collapsed. 9-bay cattle shed, late
C18, has brick front piers infilled with C20 breeze blocks,
stable doors and windows.
Barn: has Welsh slate roof of 6 bays. Central projecting gable
has double doors with brick cambered lintel. Similar small
opening to left and door on left end. Ventilation slits.
Midstrey with double doors and further outbuildings to rear.
To right of barn and projecting forward are 2 cattle sheds
Front of this shed has replaced wooden piers. Wall between
partly collapsed.
INTERIOR: stable: has queen-strut roof with clasped principals
and ridge piece.
Cattle sheds: has 4-bay queen-strut roof with clasped
principals and ridge piece on shed to right and 5-bay tie-beam
truss roof to left. Feeding racks remain in part.
Forms a group with Blackford Mill (qv).
