Barclays Bank including front
railings
GV II*
Former rectory, now bank. Late C17/early C18 with later
alterations and porch. Stuccoed brick with ashlar dressings;
gabled old tile roof with stone-coped gables. Central
staircase plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic; symmetrical 5-window range.
Moulded plinth, quoins, top cornice and coped parapet with
coped gables with ball finials. Entrance has C19 porch with
angle pilasters, frieze, cornice and parapet; inner entrance
with architrave and fielded-panel reveals to paired 3-panel
doors.
Ground floor has windows with sills, and plain architraves to
6/6 sashes, and late C20 automatic teller machine to right of
entrance; first floor has windows with sills, and architraves
with key blocks; gables have small-paned bull's eyes in
rectangular architraves flanking small gabled dormer concealed
by parapet. Rear has gabled wings.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached iron railings on stone plinths
to either side of entrance.
