Nag's Head Public House (south part)
GV II
2 houses, now part of adjoining public house to left. C17 with
C19 alterations. Timber-frame with painted brick infill, part
to left refronted in brick; gabled old tile roof with brick
end stack to rear of ridge and one to front of ridge with
raking buttress. 3-unit plan.
EXTERIOR: single-storey plus attic; 3-window range. Top
modillioned brick cornice to left unit. Former No.163 has
former entrance with gabled canopy over small-paned window
replacing door; No.165 has entrance to right end with similar
canopy over plank door in moulded frame.
Ground floor has 3 small-paned canted bay windows with flat
roofs. First floor has 3 windows with small-paned casements,
that to centre has 3-light casement, that to left has larger
3-light casement, both with iron opening casements; that to
right end has renewed 2-light casement.
Exposed square framing to right half, framing to first floor
extending over centre. Fire plaque of the County Insurance
Company.
