GV II

School, now 4 houses. 1883 with 1980s alterations. Brick laid
to English bond with limestone ashlar dressings; machine-tile
roofs with decorative cresting and finials; central tile-hung
bell-turret and brick lateral stacks. Gothic-Revival style.
H-plan.
EXTERIOR: single-storey; symmetrical 5-window range. Gabled
centre and ends, the ends break forward. Plinth and off-set
buttresses; flush sill band. Central gable is coped with
kneelers; end gables have moulded verges, banding and slits.
Gabled centre has paired pointed entrances with half-glazed
doors with margin lights, tall fanlights with small-paned
glazing and small round window above, all under trefoil
relieving arch with hood. Centre has 3 windows to each side
with small-paned glazing over larger 9-pane glazing; some late
C20 skylights.
Wings have pairs of pointed windows with hoods and 6/9-pane
glazing and small-paned glazing to arches; wing to left has
stack to angle with fillets and cornice. Bell-turret has open
timber structure with swept pyramidal roof; bases of
ventilation louvres to left and right.
Right return to School Lane has gabled entrance with moulded
verges and 3 stepped lights over pointed arch dying into
splayed jambs, battened door with strap hinges; stack to left
has diagonal shaft; small-paned window to left, 3
segmental-headed windows to right.
Left return to Milking Lane has gable over 2 pointed windows;
entrance to left has C20 door. C20 window to end of rear wing
with casement above.
Rear has 2 rear stacks and hipped projection to longer wing to
left.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Has group value with the other items in High Street.
