Farmhouse, now house. Late C16/early C17 with later additions
and alterations including range of c1980s to right.
Timber-framed with painted brick and plaster infill panels,
gabled plain-tile roof and renewed brick central and left
ridge stacks.
EXTERIOR AND PLAN: 2-room plan, box frame of 3 bays, the right
(south) room heated by axial stack, the left (north) room
formerly unheated. 4 large corner studs and middle rail with
small square panels of timber-framing and diagonal braces.
Off-centre left entrance: C20 plank door in C20 timbered
porch.
Mainly C20 windows throughout. Small 3-light window with lead
cames to left. Small window to centre and 2-light casement
with lead cames to right. First floor: central small canted
bay window between 2-light windows, all with lead cames. Rear:
exposed square frames to left part; 2 C20 bay windows on
ground floor and C20 casements. Weatherboarding to right gable
end.
INTERIOR: much of the timber-frame is exposed. Massive
deeply-chamfered tie-beam to central room and chamfered spine
beam to right, exposed rafters. Room to right has rebuilt
inglenook. C20 staircase against front wall.
Roof has exposed purlins and wind braces, massive right end
tie-beam; exposed chamfered wall plate; chamfered queen struts
exposed internally to right. Jowled corner studs.
