Kemps Green Farmhouse
GV II
Farmhouse. C17 with later additions and alterations including
C18 refronting and with range late C19/early C20 to left.
Timber-framed with reddish-brown brick facades, range to left
in Flemish bond and with grey brick dressings, and plain-tile
roof. L-shaped plan.
EXTERIOR: single-storey with attic; 2-window range. Ground
floor has casement window with glazing bars and wooden
mullions and transoms to left, French windows with glazing
bars, tripartite casement with wooden mullions and glazing
bars under elliptical arch. Upper floor: casement window to
gable-end at left with wooden mullion and transom and glazing
bars; attic dormer has casement window with glazing bars.
Windows to left range have grey brick quoins and hoodmoulds.
Right end, ridge and rear stacks with cornices. Catslide roof
to rear.
INTERIOR: close-studding to original rear wall, now
whitewashed and concealed by outshut. Small square
timber-framing to interior partition walls with arched braces
to right part. Exposed wall plate and purlins. 4-panel doors
and plank doors. Chamfered beams with ogee stops.
Forms a group with Kemps Green Farm Cottage (qv).
