Rushbrook Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. C17 with later additions and alterations including
fenestration mid C19 and c1980s porch and left windows.
Timber-framing covered in whitewashed pebbledash with
off-centre right brick ridge stack and gabled plain-tile roof.
Probably originally 3-cell, lobby-entrance plan with outshut
and further ranges to rear.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 3-window range. Plank door left of centre
within glazed porch. Ground floor has, from left, 3-light
casement window then 2 pairs of ogee-headed casements with
glazing bars. Similar fenestration to first floor.
Right gable end has two 2-light casement windows with glazing
bars, that to ground floor under elliptical arch, that to
first floor with external latch; exposed original wall plate
ends and 2 original purlins. Outshut to rear under catslide
roof.
INTERIOR: exposed small square panels of timber-framing to
former rear wall. Exposed plinth and sole plate. Right room
has inglenook fireplace with bressumer beam.
Roof: remains of queen post truss to left partition wall;
exposed collar beam and framing to right gable end wall.
Rear left range has 2 curved principals and collar beam and
further raised roof with purlins and rafters.
