GV II
House. c1808 for John Burman, banker, with later additions and
alterations. Reddish brick in Flemish bond, Welsh slate roof
and coping stones to gables. Central staircase plan.
EXTERIOR: main range of 2 storeys; 3 first-floor windows. 2
side ranges (alike) to each side, each of 2 storeys;
single-window range.
Main range: first floor has 6/6 sashes with horns. Ground
floor: central entrance has Tuscan porch with frieze decorated
with lion mask and swag and cornice with guttae. Part-glazed
panelled door with fanlight in pilastered surround. 8/8
sashes.
Side bays: mainly 8/8 sashes. All windows in plain reveals and
with sills, mostly with flat arches.
Raised gables with copings to main range.
Hipped roofs to end ranges. Rear stacks.
INTERIOR: central dog-leg staircase has stick balusters and
wreathed handrail. 6-panel doors.
All listed buildings on The Green form a group.
