School. Late C19 with later additions and alterations
including c1980s extension to north. Reddish-brown brick in
Flemish bond, with bands of herringbone and other decorative
brickwork, with timber-framing to gables with herringbone
nogging, ashlar dressings, cement render to plinth in places
and gabled plain-tile roofs.
STYLE: Queen-Anne Revival.
PLAN: T-shaped with further shallow projecting range to
north-east.
EXTERIOR: single tall storey; 3 bays with wing to front.
Chamfered plinth. Entrance between front wing and north-east
break-forward: plank door with divided overlight. From east
(left): projecting gabled range has 3-light
mullion-and-transom window with moulded mullions and lead
cames, chamfered sill and cambered arch with roll-moulding;
bargeboards.
Front of wing has tall mullioned window with 2 levels of
transoms, bargeboards. Moulded band and slight projection to
gable.
To left return of wing a 2-light mullion-and-transom window.
Main facade to right: tall 3-light mullioned window with 2
levels of transoms, under raking roof, then a 2-light
mullion-and-transom window.
All windows have lead cames and metal windows with chamfered
sills and cambered heads, mostly with roll-moulding. Ornate
bridged double ridge stack to front wing with star-shaped
flues. Further star-shaped internal stack to left.
Rear: 6 wooden 2-light mullion-and-transom windows.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
All the listed buildings on The Green form a group.
