Farmhouse. c1725 with later alterations. Brick laid to Flemish
bond with some glazed headers and ashlar dressings; hipped old
tile roof with brick stacks. L-plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic; symmetrical 5-window range.
Ashlar and top cornice. Round-headed entrance has doorcase
with pilasters and open pediment, fanlight with radial glazing
bars over 6-panel door. Windows have brick aprons, and rubbed
brick flat arches over 6/6 sashes with flush wood frames;
hipped dormers to left and right returns. Lower 2-storey brick
range to rear, the 1st floor a c1900 addition.
INTERIOR: not inspected but reported to be altered, but with
contemporary front and back staircases.
The house is reputed to have been built in 1725 as the Dower
House for Alscot Park.
