Farmhouse
(Formerly Listed as:
Barn at Church Bank Farm)
GV II
Barn and stable. C17 with C18 and C19 alterations and
additions. Timber-frame with some brick and rubble;
weatherboarding; old tile roof. Long rectangular plan of 7
bays with stone addition to right return and cross-wing to
left end.
EXTERIOR: square framing with brick infill with stone walling
to left end and brick walling to right end, all with
weatherboarding above. Entrance to threshing floor has paired
doors with strap hinges, entrance with wide-boarded door to
right and brick lean-to outshut with 3 ventilator doors; C20
window to right end. Stone addition has brick lean-to outshut
and return buttress and weatherboarded gable.
Cross-wing has brick infill to square framing and C20 shed
attached; entrance with paired doors and first-floor door;
hipped end and catslide outshut to return.
Rear has wing projecting under hipped gable; rest obscured by
large C20 shed.
INTERIOR: wall studs and arch-braced tie beam and collar
trusses with wind braces.
