GV II

Former spa pump house, now house. 1837. Brick with tile roof
and brick cross-axial stack and end stack with octagonal
shafts.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; central gabled wing. Decorative fascia
and bargeboards. Entrance in recessed angle to wing has Tudor
arches to front and return, panelled door and small-paned side
lights; blind Tudor arch to right. French window in chamfered
reveals to left end and 2 Tudor-headed windows with
small-paned casements to right, with similar window to right
return lean-to addition. First floor has canted oriel on
brackets with cornice over 1:2:1-light leaded glazing; pointed
light with moulded sill to gable and 2-light casement to
return.
Left return canted end has Tudor-headed windows in chamfered
reveals, possibly originally open; first-floor windows have
2-light casements.
Rear similar, with stack with clustered octagonal shafts.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORY: originally had verandah flanking front gable and
continued to left return. Built for the abortive Royal
Victorian Spa; believed to be the first building named after
Queen Victoria.
