GV II

2 houses. Probably early C18, extended and part raised early
C19. Timber-frame with painted plaster and brick infill, and
painted brick, partly on rubble plinth, to right; hipped
thatch and gabled Welsh slate roofs with brick end stacks and
axial stack.
PLAN: originally a 2-unit timber-framed cottage extended by a
2-storey unit to right in early C19, central unit raised to 2
storeys at same time.
EXTERIOR: single-storey plus attic, single-window, range and
2-storey, 2-window range. The Nest to left: entrance with C20
door to left of window with 2-light casement; C20 2-light
casement to raking dormer; hipped outshut to left return has
small window with iron opening casement; tall framing panels
with middle rail. Tymss Cottage to right: entrance with open
gabled porch to 6-flush-panel (2 panels glazed) door; flanking
segmental-headed windows with 2-light and 3-light casements;
smaller windows to first floor have older 2-light casements
with iron opening casements. Small C20 additions to rear.
INTERIOR: that of The Nest not inspected, but Tymss Cottage
has spine beams, open fireplace with brick hood, winding
staircase, some plank doors and 2 queen post trusses, one cut
for doorway; most of the framing remains in rear, now
internal, walls.
