House in row, now converted into flats. Late C18 or early C19,
but possibly incorporating earlier work to rear. Rendered and
colourwashed, with stone dressings, rubble to rear, single
Roman clay tiled roof with coped gable to left, ashlar stone
chimney stacks. A symmetrical broad frontage with 2 gabled
rear wings.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 3 wide bays. Plinth, plain pilaster at
ends and between bays 1 and 2, cornice, plain parapet. Below,
the outer bays have angled bay windows with plain sashes under
lead bell-hip roofs, with plains sash windows to first floor,
each bay. Above the first-floor windows is a considerable
stretch (c 1m) of plain walling. Entrance in lower bay 2, a
6-panel door with rectangular fanlight, with doorcase having
Doric pilasters, shallow entablature and moulded flat hood.
The main ridge stack lies to the left of the entrance bay. The
rear wings have steep-pitched gabled roofs.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
This property, built or refaced at the same time as No.23 (qv)
adjoining, has unfortunately lost all the original sash
glazing bars.
