No.22
GV II
House with shop, now shop with flat over. C19 facade to
possibly C18 building. Red brick with Bath stone dressings,
hipped Welsh slate roof with ridge at right angles to road,
behind rendered parapet, brick chimney stack. Right-angle
plan.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, 2 bays. Later C20 shop front across whole
of ground floor, using ceramic tiling, entrance in recess on
left hand side, under deep fascia. First floor has a single,
wide shallow- angled 3-light oriel window with a plain sash
window to each facet under a flat roof, second floor has two
plain sash windows set in simple architraves, with cornice and
plain coping to parapet over.
INTERIOR: the ground floor much modified to form the shop, but
the first floor has some chamfered ceiling beams, and plaster
cornices to front rooms, the doors and partitioning mostly of
C19, with some reshaping. On second floor the collar truss
roof frame, with 2 ranks of purlins, appears to be of C18
date.
