House at end of row, with shop. Mid C18. Painted brick front,
rubble returns, slate roof, brick stacks. A narrow-frontage
property with return flank to Mill Street, and gabled rear.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and attic, 2 windows; central raking
dormer with slate cheeks to a 4-pane sash, above 9-pane and
plain sashes, all to brick voussoirs with stone key, and with
V-joint stone quoins at either end of the front. The ground
floor has an early C20 Art Nouveau shop-front with deep-set
door off-centre, right, and curved returns to the plate
display windows, in very thin mullions with bases and
capitals, and decorative fretted heads, all to a deep fascia
with reeded cornice, and pilasters to heavy consoles to
pedimented heads. Main stack to the right, but further
full-height brick stack built in to the rubble of the rear
gable, which has coping and small kneelers.
The 3-storey return to Mill Street has, towards the left end,
in brick dressings, 9 above 12 and 12-pane sashes, and a C19
six-panel door.
INTERIOR: not generally inspected; a C19 straight-flight
staircase, with square newels, rises from the shop floor.
The delicately detailed display front is a notable survival.
