Beaumont House and attached walls
GV II
House. C18. Doulting stone ashlar, Welsh slate double Mansard
roofs between Dutch curved gables, ashlar chimney stacks.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attics, 5 bays with flanking
single-bay extensions. Plinth, cornice, plain shallow parapet.
Plain sash windows with quintuple keystoned heads, to lower
central bay a 6-panel door, up 3 steps, set in a semicircular
arched recess with radially glazed fanlight, flanked by Doric
pilasters carrying an open pediment on console brackets. 3
segmental-roofed dormers with 6-pane sash windows.
Side extension set slightly lower, matching, but with
semicircular arched openings, to left a niche to ground floor
and plain sash window to first floor, on right a casement
window with lowered sill to ground floor and plain sash window
above.
South side elevation of 2 bays, with semicircular arched
12-pane sash upper left and plain sash to right, 12-pane sash
lower right and to left a 6-panel door, up 2 steps, under
rectangular fanlight, with timber pilaster doorcase and flat
hood.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: extending from the NE corner of house a
tall rendered stone wall with gateway featuring square piers
with moulded tops, contributing to the general street scene.
