Lamp standard on south east-corner
of churchyard of St Cuthbert
GV II
Lamp standard. Probably c1900. Cast-iron by Felix Thomas of
Weston Super Mare. Circular, with protective stone collar to
base, fluted lower section with elaborately moulded base and
upper band, then circular shaft with acanthus decoration and 2
collars with stud ornament, at top ladder brackets in an
Egyptian mode, then a wrought-iron fitting with 3 arms,
possibly adapted in 1930s, with glass mirrored reflectors to
naked lamp bulbs. One of four in the city, the others being at
Market Place and Cathedral Green (qv).
