colourwashed, triple-roll clay tiled roof, with plain gable to
west and abutment to east, no stack visible. Single
heated-room plan with cross-passage to left.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attics, 2 bays irregular
fenestration. Ground floor has 16-pane sash window to centre,
and the first floor two 12-pane sashes, all in plain openings;
raking dormer with wide 4-light casement, with horizontal

window at attic level and a 4-pane sash window to the first
floor.
INTERIOR: the cross-passage, in stone, has a deep double

C16 beams with half-pyramid stops; one of these is to the left
of the passage, the other centred to the main room, which has
a C19 fireplace on a projecting chimney breast, probably
concealing an earlier fireplace.
The straight wooden stair runs across the rear wall; at first
floor, on the left is a deep roof principal, with butt purlin.
The gable wall includes a cupboard door on angle hinges,
formerly a window or door opening, and the room to the right
has a floor of early wide boards.
The 2-bay roof has heavy principals to cambered collar and
chamfered butt purlins; there are mortices for former
wind-bracing. The building was formerly the East Wells Inn.
