31/08/88 Churchyard boundary wall to Church
of St Thomas

Boundary wall and gateway to church of St Thomas (qv). c1857
(date of church completion), by SS Teulon for the Revd George
Blissett. Local stone rubble with ashlar dressings. Wall
averages 1.5m high, with chamfered ashlar coping, stepping up
hill eastwards on north side. Opposite the church porch a
gabled gateway with ashlar quoins, offset sides, ashlar coping
with roll- moulded apex, and pointed arched, quoined opening
with pair timber gates having cusped-headed panels and long
iron strap hinges. The wall adds to the setting of the church
and to the streetscape generally.
