Farmhouse, now house. Probably early C17. Red brick with
projecting storey bands at first floor and ceiling levels,
vestiges of thin stone rubble. All windows renewed C20 wood
multipane casements under flat brick lintels or sashes under
brick segmental-arched lintels. Hipped low-pitch slate roofs.
Integral brick eaves stack, 3 large projecting stepped brick
stacks to rear, one with profiled upper shaft. H-shaped plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and cellar, and 3 storeys at rear. Front
with central 2-window range of 8/8 sashes over central glazed
front entrance door flanked by thin 4/6 sashes. Projecting
wings each side: left side is a 3-window range of 4/8 sashes
over 8/8 sashes; right side is a 2-window range of 8/8 sashes
over 8/12 sashes.
Right return: 4-window range of 8/8 sashes over 8/12 sashes
with centre left windows staggered between floors; additional
4/8 sash to lower ground floor. Left return: 3-window range of
casements with central glazed door, full-height recessed panel
in wall to centre left with dovecote holes under eaves.
Rear: projecting wing to left with central projecting stack
flanked by tall casements with brick segmental-arched lintels.
Central recessed range covered by wide projecting stack
flanked by tall casements. Projecting wing to right with
projecting stack to right and 3/6 sashes to top 2 storeys over
casement to left.
INTERIOR: C17 staircase with turned balusters, string and
moulded handrail, the design of balusters repeats against dado
of stairs. 2 original panelled doors. Chamfered bridging beam
with ogee stops.
