Public house. Late C16 or C17 with later alterations. Painted
stone rubble, brick and render, painted timber frame and
painted infill panels. Plain-tiled roofs with plain C19
bargeboards and finials. Projecting stone and brick eaves
stacks with brick upper shafts, 2 integral brick stacks.
Irregular and roughly L-shaped on plan, with extension wings.
EXTERIOR: 2-storey and single-storey and attic and basement.
East side with projecting stone gable-end with multi-pane
casement at each storey. Stone stack with small dormer to
south return. To right is framed gable-end of smaller
extension with full-height close studding and jettied
first-floor gable-truss of straight tie beam with 2 vertical
struts. Entrance door under lean-to roof between gables.
Right (north) side: central gable-end of framed gable truss of
vertical struts, collar with twin raking struts, 2-light
casement, rendered wall below with leaded casements. Square
framing 2 panels high to right return side; to left is side
wall of smaller extension with 2-light casement covered below
with lean-to outshut with 2-light casement; to far left is
side wall of main wing with multi-pane casement.
INTERIOR: square-panelled timber-framed partitions and
chamfered bridging beams.
