Range consisting of 4 houses, store and hall. Early C19. Stone
rubble, coursed rubble pilasters with simple ashlar band
forming entablature, simple ashlar projecting eaves band
forming bed of simple gabled pediments with ashlar verges.
Plain rubble stone walls to rear of terraced house range.
Plain-tile roofs with integral brick ridge stacks. L-shaped
plan forming the long side and end of a large open courtyard,
side range with single house, known as No.61 Lower Millichope,
with stores and hall, end range with row of 3 terraced houses,
known as Nos.1, 2 and 3 Estate Yard Cottages.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Side range has courtyard side mirroring
opposing side of Keepers Cottage (qv). Central pedimented
gable with brick roundel and brick segmental-arched doorway;
to right is house range with 3-light casement over C20
casement with ashlar segmental-arched lintel, simple
projecting pedimented gable to right end; to left are stores
with brick segmental-arched openings with higher gabled cross
wing to left end forming tall brick arched carriage entrance
into the courtyard.
End gable: C20 2-light casement set in stepped pediment over
C20 3-light casement.
Rear of side range: elevation with full-height coursed rubble
pilasters, 2-light casements at house end and square openings
at store end. To left end is simple projecting pedimented
gable with 2-light casement over lean-to enclosed stone
entrance porch. Side range continues to the right to link with
the terraced house end range with blank pilastered range which
houses a public hall or clubroom.
Terraced house end range: central projecting cross gable on
both sides, flanking walls on courtyard side without
pilasters, those on the rear side without bands and pilasters,
complete range altered to house C20 multi-pane casements and
boarded doors to both sides, wide brick arches of former
coach-house still evident to rear.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Part of a group with Keepers Cottage, Dovecote, Barn and
Cartshed (qv) demonstrating a complete example of early C19
planning of an estate village.
