GV II

House and store. Early C19. Stone rubble, flat coursed rubble
pilasters with simple ashlar band forming entablature, simple
ashlar projecting eaves band also forming bed of simple gabled
pediments together with ashlar verge. Plain-tile roofs with
integral brick ridge stacks. Long rectangular plan forming one
side of an open courtyard.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Courtyard side with central simple
pedimental gable with brick-blocked roundel and brick
segmental-arched doorway. To left, the house has a simple
pedimented gable to left, two 2-light casements and C20
semi-dormer over C20 casements in brick segmental-arched
openings, 4-panelled front door covered by enclosed stone
lean-to porch, all under simple pedimented gable to left. To
right are brick segmental-arched openings with higher gabled
cross wing to right end.
Left gable end: C20 2-light casement set under raised string
course, 3-light casement below. Rear: plain stone rubble
walls, to right 3 dormers over C20 multi-pane casements.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Part of a group with Estate Yard Cottages, Dovecote, Barn and
Cartshed (qv) demonstrating a complete example of early C19
planning of an estate village.
