Church. Early C14 with C19 restoration and c1865 north aisle
and north vestry additions. Stone rubble and coursed stone
rubble with ashlar dressings. Plain-tile roof with ornamental
ridge tiles, and ashlar-coped gable. Weatherboarded broach
spire. Integral roofed chancel and nave, west tower.
EXTERIOR: chancel with round-headed east window inset with 3
cusped lancets. North wall with restored single cusped lancet.
South wall with 2 tall renewed cusped lancets flanking
restored chamfered pointed arched doorway with plain plank
door.
Nave: C19 north aisle with C19 cusped lancets with reset C13
twin cusped lancet with lozenge light over to west. Aisle
covered by nave roof continuation with corbelled stone gutter
bracket along wall. Stone chimney stacks integral with
ashlar-coped gables to west gable return of north aisle and
north vestry gable. North vestry east wall with cusped lancet
and ovolo-chamfered pointed arched doorway.
South wall with pointed arch with twin cusped lancets and
quatrefoil to right and restored cusped lancet to left of
south doorway. South pointed arched doorway with shallow ovolo
chamfer under simple hoodmould. West gable return with carved
figurative kneeler and sundial. Tiled gabled south porch of
C19 timber framing on high ashlar stone plinth incorporating
benches.
Tower: tall slightly tapered unbuttressed walls with cusped
lancet to south at ground level, round-headed slits at upper
stages with 2 to the south and west and one to the north.
INTERIOR: roof of nave and chancel remodelled c1865. Chancel
roof of 4 bays and 4 trusses, the nave roof of 3 large bays
with paired trusses between. All trusses are arch-braced
collar trusses with upper and lower collars and single purlin.
Chancel screen carved at Louvain c1865. Pointed tower arch
with recess each side. Spire timbers mostly original with
mast, lower bracing frames, broach purlins, hip rafters,
cross-struts and struts. C14 plain octagonal font on C20 base.
3 armorial hatchments in nave.
