Nash Court
II
House, then college, restored as house in 1994. Mid to late
C18. Brick with ashlar dressings. Hipped tiled roof with brick
parapet with brick dentil course cornice. Brick ridge stacks
with integral brick eaves stacks to extensions. L-shaped plan
with later rear extensions.
EXTERIOR: 3-storey and cellar. East front is a 3-storey,
5-window range of 6/6 sashes, with 3/3 at second floor, all
with gauged brick lintels, with the central first-floor window
having pedimented stone surround with Tuscan pilasters and
open pediment. Central projecting porch with 4 Tuscan columns
and plain pilastered wood doorcase. Extending to right is
2-storey extension with two 6/6 first-floor sashes, and a
ground-floor parapeted bay window with two 6/6 sashes to the
front and a single sash to each side.
South front: 3-storey, 5-window range of 6/6 sashes with 3/3 at
second floor, ground-floor bay windows to centre and right
with 6/6 sashes on each face except for door with top-light to
west faces, all with gauged brick lintels. Left side at ground
floor rebuilt with C20 glazed door and 6/6 sash.
West gable end: 4-light casements with brick segmental
lintels.
Rear of L-shaped range: mostly renewed 6/6 sashes with brick
segmental lintels and 3/3 sashes to second floor.
INTERIOR: moulded dado and cornice to south-west room and to
various other ground- and first-floor rooms. Room to
north-west with C17-style oak panelling and heavy carved
overmantel.
Extending to rear is service and stable wing of 2 storeys with
hipped tiled roof and dentil course eaves. Roof surmounted by
raised square tower with leaded cupola and weather-vane, and
with clock on east face. Windows to east with brick segmental
lintels and renewed multi-pane casements.
