GV II
Rectory, now house. c1740 and 1793 on earlier core. Brick,
with storey bands and dentil eaves to front, partly on stone
rubble plinth. Plain-tile roof with ashlar-coped gables to
front and slate hipped roof to rear. Projecting brick end
stacks. Square double-pile plan formed of earlier front range
and larger later phase to rear.
EXTERIOR: front to north is 3-storey and cellar, 5-window
range of 6/6 sashes with 6/3 sashes at second floor and 9/9
sashes at ground floor flanking central 4-panelled door with
2-light overlight. All windows with brick segmental arches,
moulded cases and no sill. Sides: to centre of left (east)
return is single-window range of 2-light first-floor casement
with 6/6 sash over and 2-light casement with top light at
ground floor, all with brick segmental arches and stone sills.
Opposite side has single 6/6 sash with brick segmental arch.
Rear to south: 3-storey, 5-window range of 3/6 sashes with 3/3
sashes at second floor and 6/6 sashes to ground floor, all
with moulded cases, brick segmental arches and no sill.
Central doorcase: plain recessed panelled pilasters and
recessed spandrel, flat cornice and canopy over, 6-panelled
door with raised panels with fanlight with radial bars.
INTERIOR: substantial late C18 interiors with staircase.
Coalbrookdale fireplaces survive in many rooms. Trompe l'oeil
rusticated stone decoration in upper stairway.
