House, now 2 houses. C17 with C19 extensions and C20
alterations. Painted timber-frame and painted render. Slate
roof. Painted brick and plain C20 integral brick stacks.
Original 2-framed bay and cross wing split into 2 units, each
with end extension.
EXTERIOR: single storey and attic. Front to north; No.1 North
Cottage to right; No.2 North Cottage to left. No.1: original
single-bay framed cross wing with square framing 3 panels high
extensively renewed with painted render. C20 casement and
entrance door with C20 dormer. C19 gabled extension wing to
right with C20 casements and brick painted to imitate framing.
Rear of No.1: square framing 3 panels high. C20 casements and
dormer. No.2: original gable-end with square framing
extensively renewed with painted render and with C20
casements. C20 wing to left with painted imitation framing and
entrance door in gable-end. Rear of No.2: framed gable with
square framing 3 high, straight tie beam, and collar. Single
trenched purlin roof evident. C20 casements. Tension brace in
return side.
