Farmhouse. Late C18 rebuild of earlier, probably C17,
timber-framed core. Brick, with storey band, on rubble plinth
with moulded brick capping, with stone rubble rear wing. Old
tile roof with slate-roofed rear wing. Projecting stepped
brick gable-end stacks with tiled offsets, that to the north
end built off stone lower stage. Front range rebuilt in brick,
with C19 parallel rear extension range forming malthouse.
EXTERIOR: 2-storey with attic and cellar. West front is
5-window range of timber mullion and transom casements in
brick segmental arched openings, 2 first-floor windows blocked
with brick. 2 timber mullion and transom windows at ground
floor with cambered heads and brick segmental arches flanking
C19 projecting brick porch with arched opening: 6-panelled
inner door with top lights set in brick segmental arched
opening. South return with 2-light casement with brick
segmental arch to right of stack and attic casement to left.
North return with 2-light casement with leaded lights to left
of stack and attic casement to right. Plain cellar door. Rear
lean-to malthouse extension with rubble stone walls, slate
roof and 2-light casements with brick sills and lintels at
both floors flanking central steps rising to plain boarded
door. North return side with plain boarded openings.
INTERIOR: C19 interiors generally complete, including kitchen
range by Rickards of Ludlow. Twin chamfered bridging beams in
each bay at both floors. Malthouse at rear reputed to have
complete original fittings.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: wall to the south-west approximately 2.5
metres high of stone rubble with brick upper stage and with
double-seat privy at the south end.
