Farmhouse, now house. Late C16, with C19 extensions. Painted
timber-frame with brick infill on stone rubble plinth.
Plain-tile roofs. Brick ridge stack on main range with C19
decorated recessed panel and oversailing cap. Stone integral
gable-end stack at main range with C17 brick shafts with spurs
and C19 cap. H-shaped plan of main range and end cross wings.
EXTERIOR: 2-storey and attic. South front has 3-framed bay
main range with projecting cross wing gables to left and
right. Main range with C19 or C20 casements in each bay on
each floor, with some lattice-leaded glazing. To left is
entrance outshut with C19 2-light casement and door. Framing
of partially close-studded panels with some square framing,
consisting of storey posts, studs and middle rails. West cross
wing gable to left is rendered with applied imitation framing
with only jowled post and sill plate of original framing left.
2-light first-floor casement and 2- and 3-light casements at
ground level. Mid C19 brick cross wing gable to right with
2-light first-floor casement over 4-light ground-floor
casement with brick segmental arch.
Left return side: close-studded framing with girding beam,
posts, middle rails and studs. 3-light casement to each floor.
Right return side: left cross wing wall covered by C19 framed
outshut with C20 casements. Brick-lined stone stack to centre.
Square framing 4 panels high to cross wing to right with
posts, girding beam, studs and middle rail.
Rear to north: 3-framed bay main range with projecting cross
wing gables to left and right. Main range with 2 casement
windows each storey and boarded door with tiled canopy to
ground-floor left. Framing of partial close-studding with
girding beam, posts and middle rails. Matching projecting
cross wing gable ends each side, together with projecting
returns, have close-studded frame with girding beam, middle
rails and studs. Central projecting first-floor oriel window
and C19 canted bay window to ground floor. Oriel has 6-light
ovolo-moulded mullion and transom window and single-light side
casements with lattice leaded lights. Tiled pentice roof,
close-studded panelling infilled with brick, and pendant
corner posts. Canted bay window below with timber mullion
windows to left and possibly C17 ovolo-moulded 5-light mullion
and transom lattice leaded window to right, both with canted
close-studded framing below. Gable heads have restored
framing: jettied straight tie beam with ovolo-chamfered
soffit, double collar with vertical struts below and between,
twin raking struts over, quadrant-shaped struts set between
forming decorative patterned framing, painted render infill,
3-light lattice-leaded attic mullion window. West gable has
low boarded door with nail-head studs to right of bay window.
