Pool House
II
House. Late C16 with C19 alterations and C20 additions.
Painted timber-frame with painted rendered infill panels on
stone rubble plinth. Painted rendered masonry to later
additions. Plain-tile roof with integral eaves chimney with
brick upper shaft and battered stone rubble stack.
EXTERIOR: gable facing with entrance in lobby extension to
right. Single C20 steel casement to first floor and C19 bay
window to ground floor. Close studding with middle rail and
small braces to corner posts. First floor jettied.
Ground-floor framing of full-height close studding on sill
plate. Boxed jetty bressumer with weathering piece. At left
corner of ground floor is a chamfered jowled bracketed angle
post with stop moulding at foot. Gable-end truss with straight
tie beam, 4 struts under collar and twin raking struts over.
To right is tiled lean-to entrance-lobby extension
incorporating 6-panelled door with projecting gabled porch.
Right return with casement set in much altered large
rectangular framing with central stone stack with gabled roof
abutment each side. C20 bay window at ground level to right.
Rear gable end: C20 casement with C20 bay window below set in
square framing 4 panels high. Gable-end truss of straight tie
beam, 2 struts and collar with boarded opening set between
struts. Jowled corner posts. Evidence of single trenched
purlin roof. Left-hand side masked by C20 tiled lean-to
extension with cement rendered walls and rendered chimney
stack to rear.
