Docklesyke Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. Probably early to mid C18; altered. Grey-washed
slobbered rubble, stone slate roof. Transitional single-depth
plan of 2 wide units with almost full-width rear outshut under
catslide roof, on north-south axis, built back to road and
facing east.
2 storeys and 4 windows, almost symmetrical. The ground floor
has a wide gabled porch in the centre, a 4-pane sash and a
larger square 4-pane sash to the left, with a continuous
drip-band over them, and two 2-light casements to the right;
and the 1st floor has 4 widely spaced rectangular 2-light
casements. Wrought-iron gutter brackets; gable chimneys. Small
lean-to outbuilding attached to south gable wall. North gable
all has through-stones, and this end of the outshut has a
square-headed doorway, a small square opening above this and a
corner chimney; the south end of the broader southern portion
of the outshut has a small 2-light casement and a slit-window
above.
INTERIOR: stone lateral partition wall; 2 lateral beams in
housepart.
