Farmhouse, unoccupied at time of inspection (July 1994 and May
1995). Dated 1681 at 1st floor but remodelled in C19, with
additions. White-washed coursed sandstone rubble, stone slate
roof (and corrugated sheet to addition at rear). Single-depth
2-unit plan on east-west axis, facing south, plus an added bay
at the east end and a continuous lean-to addition at the rear.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 3:1 windows. The 2-unit main range has a
doorway in the centre with a part-glazed door protected by a
pitched canopy, two 6-pane sashes at ground floor and 3 above
(regularly arranged but collectively offset slightly to the
right), and at 1st floor a small rectangular datestone with
raised lettering "I*T /16 81". The added bay to the right has
a 4-pane sash on each floor. Large extruded chimney with
offsets at left gable; ridge chimney at junction, gable
chimney to right. The rear has a continuous full-height
lean-to outshut with a corrugated sheet roof, the portion to
the rear of the main range with through-stones and regular
openings including a porch in the centre, two 2-light
casements at ground floor and 3 above, and a tall chimney at
the west end; the other portion (perhaps a stable or store)
has one large and one small doorway and a small 6-pane window
between these.
