Garsdale Street Chapel
II
Primitive Methodist chapel. Dated 1841. Coursed sandstone
rubble with quoins, stone slate roof. Rectangular single cell
building parallel to road. Plain style. Single storey, 2
windows, symmetrical: a square-headed doorway in the centre
with monolithic lintel, flanked at a higher level by
rectangular 12-pane windows which have tilting casement
openings in the top tier. Both gable walls covered by later
buildings. Rear fenestration similar to front.
INTERIOR: 5 tiers of simple panelled pews rising from the
centre to the east gable wall, facing a simple raised pulpit
at the west end; plastered walls, flat ceiling.
A good example of its type, apparently little altered.
