Churchyard gates approx 15 metres
south of Church of St Edmund's

Carriage and pedestrian gates, with gate piers. Pedestrian
gate c1810, carriage gates 1838, repaired following bomb
damage 1943. Carriage gates by GE Child. Cast-iron.
Twin carriage gates hung on triangular-section compound piers,
the piers decorated by pairs of punched trefoils in two tiers
and topped by a shallow domed cap above panels dated 1838.
Gates have square-section bars terminating in foliate
arrow-head finials set between top and bottom rails, the rails
pierced with quatrefoils. On top rail are recorded names of
churchwardens.
Pedestrian gate to right: single-leaf gate hung between
square-section compound lattice piers. Gate with
square-section bars interlacing above plain top rail.
