House with commercial use on ground floor, formerly bank.
Early C19 with alterations. Mass wall construction;
smooth-plastered; roof concealed behind parapet; stacks with
rendered shafts to left. One room wide, 2 rooms deep with C20
rear addition. An open passageway to the right leads to the
market.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys. 3-window front. Coped parapet and
probably C20 cornice. 3 first and 3 second-floor windows with
moulded architraves, glazed with C20 horned 12-pane sashes.
The ground floor has an attractive neo-Georgian shop front of
the c1950s with composite columns flanking a passageway which
has an overlight with geometric glazing bars. Similar
arrangement to recessed door to office to left with 2-leaf
external panelled door, giving a symmetrical arrangement.
Slightly bowed 3-light shop window with fielded panels below
the sill. The window entablature with a dentil frieze below
the cornice; brackets carved with shields and swags.
INTERIOR: not inspected but may retain features of interest.
