GV II

House. Probably early or mid C17. Solid, rendered walls,
probably of brick or stone. Slated roof. Pair of rendered,
diagonally-set chimneys, probably of C17 brick, on right
gable; rebuilt tops, the front chimney with a tall, shaped pot
of round section.
2 storeys. 2-window range, largely re-modelled in C19. Ground
storey has wide, folding plank door to left; window in centre
with slender glazing bars dividing it into 3 large panes below
and 4 smaller panes above. Tall narrow windows in 2nd storey,
these having sashes in recessed box-frames; each sash has 2
upright glazing bars forming margin panes.
INTERIOR not inspected. It is reported to contain no early
visible features, but is likely to retain early fireplaces,
and possibly beams and door frames, concealed under plaster.
The house adjoins the Tavern in the Town public house (qv) in
Diamond Street, a good C17 building.
