Row of 3 small houses, including front railings to No.38.
Early C19. Mass wall construction, Nos 36 & 38 roughcast.
No.37 stuccoed and blocked out. Natural slate roof, gabled at
ends; stacks with brick shafts with platbands and some old
terracotta pots. Single depth main ranges, 2 rooms wide. No.36
has a rear wing at right angles, the others have 2-storey rear
lean-tos.
2 storeys. 3 symmetrical 3-window ranges. No.36 with one later
ground-floor bay has a central, recessed 6-panel front door
with the upper panes glazed; all windows one over one pane
sashes including small bay to ground-floor left which has a
lean-to slate roof and paired sashes. No.37 has a similar
front door. All windows replaced with plastic, but probably in
original embrasures. No.38 has a C20 timber front door with a
sloping, slated porch hood; 12-pane sashes with a blind recess
over the front door. INTERIOR not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: No.38 has garden railings with spear
finials.
Group value with No.53 Newport Road (qv), which adjoins No.38
to the right.
